YouTube has blocked in Russia a clip for a song by a singer from Kazakhstan, Itsyk Tsyper
The YouTube video service has blocked the showing of the clip for the song “Smoke” by the Ukrainian musician from Kazakhstan Itsyk Tsyper in Russia. The clip gained viral popularity on Runet, according to the video hosting, the blocking was carried out at the request of the Russian authorities.
The song by 61-year-old Tsyper (real name Igor Tsyba) to music in the garage genre topped the chart of VK, Russia’s largest social network, in mid-January, The Flow reported. By February 3, the video on YouTube had received almost 16.5 million views, despite the fact that at the beginning of the year only 3 thousand people subscribed to the musician himself (now – 168 thousand).
In the text, the hero of 61-year-old Tsyper talks about the experience of using cannabis. At the end of January, representatives of the public organization “Veterans of Russia” wrote to the Prosecutor’s Office demanding to ban the clip, seeing in it propaganda for drug use.
It is not known which state body made the decision to block the video. Roskomnadzor informed RBC that it had not received a decision to declare the clip prohibited.
