1,000 Ukrainian companies with the highest revenue in 2022 (infographic)

A thousand of the largest enterprises in terms of income in 2022 generated about 6 trillion hryvnias. Most of them are part of the fuel and energy and agrarian-industrial complex industries. Most of the top enterprises are companies registered 15-30 years ago. This is stated in a joint study by financial analyst Roman Kornilyuk and the YouControl R&D center.

Incomes in the oil and gas sector and electric power industry

The largest Ukrainian companies in the top 1000 list provide more than half of the total revenue of all enterprises in the country. Each of the largest companies on this list generated at least UAH 1.25 billion in net income in 2022.

The oil and gas sector (146 companies), food industry (129), electric power industry (105), agriculture (102) turned out to be the largest sectors of large business. A few more than 50 companies among the top companies in terms of revenue operate in such sectors as wholesale and retail trade, chemical industry, and metallurgy.

The same branches of the economy are widely represented in the mentioned ranking by the volume of net income, but in a different order. The first place is occupied by the oil and gas sector (1.3 trillion hryvnias or 21% of the total income of the top 1000), the second place is the electric power industry (17.3%), followed by retail trade (8.3%), agriculture (8.1%) ).), food industry (7.7%), metallurgy (7%).

Coke industry, tobacco production, coal industry, metallurgy, despite the relatively lower number of large companies in the first thousand, generate significantly higher levels of income per enterprise. Industries that use natural resources still remain the basis of large business in Ukraine.

Despite the obvious growth of the role of information technologies, the sectoral profile and export specialization of Ukraine are still determined by the agricultural complex and the food industry, as well as heavy industries such as: metallurgy, chemical industry, and energy.

Concentration in the capital and industrial centers

About 51.5% of the total income of the top 1000 is concentrated in companies with a capital “registration”. In addition to Kyiv with 405 companies, 259 large enterprises, which are legally located in the industrial centers of Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa regions, generate 26% of revenues.

As a result of Russian aggression, the share in the total income of the traditional leaders of the rankings, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, significantly decreased to 11-12 place: 1.6% and 1.3% of total income, respectively.
