The main games of the World Chess Championship match ended in a draw

In Astana, on April 29, the 14th, final, game with classical time control of the match for the title of world chess champion ended. Russian Yan Nepomniachy and Chinese Ding Lizhen drew. The game was broadcast on YouTube of the FIDE Chess Federation.

Both grandmasters came to the game with 6.5 points. After a draw, the score of the match was 7:7. To win the match, it was necessary to score 7.5 points. On April 29, Russian Nepomniachy played black, Chinese Ding played white.

In 14 games, each of them won three times, Dean won only with white, Yan had one win with black and two with white.

Now the fate of the champion’s crown will be decided on April 30 in a tie-break – four games of quick chess of 25 minutes each. If they do not find a winner, the grandmasters will play a blitz game – at first they will be given 5 minutes + 3 seconds per move, then – three minutes each.

• In July, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, the 16th world chess champion, refused to defend his title against Russian Yan Nepomnyaschech. The Russian grandmaster won his right to the contenders’ tournament in Madrid. Dyn took the second place there.
• Carlsen said that he has no motivation to defend the title, he has already met Nepomnyachy in the championship match in 2021. Then he defeated him with a score of 7.5:3.5, which was the biggest defeat of a Russian chess player.
