Pashinyan and Tokaev accepted an invitation to visit Moscow on May 9

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will pay a working visit to Moscow today at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Prime Minister will take part in the upcoming May 9 events dedicated to Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, Radio Azatutyun reports.

“Interfax” agency, in turn, informs that the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokaev, will also visit the celebrations on the occasion of May 9 in Russia. He will visit the parade on Red Square and visit the Rzhevsky memorial in Tver region to honor the memory of Kazakh soldiers.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon also received an invitation to visit Moscow on Victory Day. It is not clear whether they have decided to come.

Previously, only one foreign guest who accepted Putin’s invitation was known – Kyrgyz President Sadira Zhaparov.

  • Last year, there was not a single foreign leader at the May 9 parade in Moscow. The Kremlin then explained it as a non-jubilee date.
  • In 2021, the only foreign guest visited the parade on Red Square – the President of Tajikistan, Emomaly Rahmon. Festive events took place against the background of the coronavirus pandemic.
