The European Union’s latest draft of new sanctions over Russia’s all-out war in Ukraine proposes a relaxed mechanism for restrictions on third countries that help Moscow import banned goods.

“European Truth” reports about this, writes the Reuters agency, which has the document in its possession.

The updated proposal of the European Commission provides that before introducing sanctions against third countries due to assistance to Russia, it is necessary to consider “alternative measures”, such as the imposition of sanctions against specific individuals.

As you know, within the project of the next, eleventh package of sanctions, the EU for the first time proposed a new mechanism with third countries, which are considered to be involved in circumventing sanctions against Russia, helping it to import dual-purpose goods.

According to Reuters, during the first discussion of the proposal among EU permanent representatives last week, Germany warned against any possible future restrictions on trade with China.

The new package of sanctions is expected to contain restrictions against foreign companies – eight in China, eight in Iran, two in Uzbekistan and one each in Syria, Armenia and the United Arab Emirates.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced last week that new sanctions would be targeted to combat the circumvention of already introduced trade restrictions and developed “in very close coordination” with the G7 countries.
