The Security Service of Ukraine suspects former Verkhovna Rada deputy Serhiy Polishchuk of treason for denying the existence of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the department. Polishchuk is abroad.
According to the SBU, before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Polishchuk regularly visited Moscow and participated in the talk show “60 Minutes”, which is hosted by TV presenter Olga Skabeeva on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“During his appearances on the TV show 60 Minutes, Polishchuk actively supported the Kremlin’s aggressive policy, openly denied the existence of Ukrainian statehood and spread hostile narratives related to the existence of ideological confrontation between Ukrainians,” the SBU said in a statement.
The agency claims that Polishchuk received monetary compensation for this, which was transferred through financial institutions in third countries.
“According to available data, the former People’s Deputy coordinated his subversive activities with representatives of the FSB, from whom he received money for participation in Russian TV projects,” the SBU said.
Polishchuk is also suspected of violating the equality of citizens based on their racial, national, and regional affiliation.
