In Novosibirsk, more than 100 residential houses, as well as dozens of schools and other social institutions, were left without heating due to the breakdown of the main heating line. The street near the place where the accident happened was flooded with water. Videos of incidents are published by Telegram channels.
According to the City Hall, due to the accident, 237 buildings were left without heating and hot water in the city. It is reported that the area where the breakthrough occurred was paved exactly 50 years ago.
More than 20 schools switched to remote or reduced learning. Hospitals on the left bank of Novosibirsk have suspended the reception of patients and the provision of planned surgical care, the NHS reports with reference to the Ministry of Health. Emergency patients were transferred to hospitals on the right bank of the city.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case.
The authorities had previously promised to eliminate the accident by Thursday evening.
The number of municipal accidents in Russian cities increased after the New Year. The most resonant was the accident in Klimovse near Moscow – Podolsk microdistrict. Thousands of people were left without heat there after the accident at the boiler room belonging to the cartridge factory. The authorities could not eliminate the cause of the accident for a long time, a week after it the heat supply has not been fully restored. Vladimir Putin personally ordered the nationalization of the cartridge factory, and a criminal case was opened against his leadership.
As the investigators found out, the factory was recently managed by a former bodyguard of Putin and a former KGB officer, who was accused of ties to the criminal world.
The general director of the cartridge factory Igor Kushnikov and the deputy head of the Podolsk administration Roman Ryazantsev were sent to a pre-trial detention center for 2 months by the court in Moscow the day before in connection with the criminal case about the accident in Klimovsk.
