Dmytro Karavaychik, a St. Petersburg resident who was pardoned by Vladimir Putin for his participation in the war with Ukraine, previously convicted of manufacturing and selling narcotics in large quantities, became the deputy director of the “Leningrad Border” fund. The fund was established by the governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko.
According to Karavaychyk, at the foundation he deals with issues of security and distribution of humanitarian aid.
In July 2019, Dmytro Karavaychyk, who worked as a veterinarian at the time, and his wife Diana Hrybovskaya, who worked as a physics teacher at the school, were sentenced to 17 and 16 years in prison, respectively. According to the investigation, they equipped a laboratory for the production of amphetamine. Karavaichyk claimed that he deceived customers and produced not amphetamine, but a mixture imitating it.
Last year, the convict was recruited into PMC “Wagner” and sent to fight in Ukraine. After returning from the front, Karavaichyk received the promised pardon. His wife was also released early. Now, according to her husband, she is teaching again.
