Exports of American weapons reached a record level in 2023

[ad_1]

The export of American weapons grew last year by 16 percent, reaching a record amount of 238 billion dollars, the US State Department reported.

The largest deals for the purchase of American military equipment and weapons were concluded by Germany and Poland, which are increasing and modernizing their military arsenals against the background of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Poland spent 12 billion dollars on the purchase of Apache combat helicopters. Warsaw bought long-range HIMARS missile systems for $10 billion. Germany concluded contracts for almost 9 billion dollars for the purchase of Chinook transport helicopters. It also buys American air-to-air missiles. The Czech Republic will receive American fifth-generation F-35 fighters. South Korea concluded large contracts for the purchase of American combat aircraft and helicopters.

Myra Reznyk, head of the department of the State Department that sanctions arms sales, said in an interview with Politico that while American arms exports are growing, the Russian military industry is “in decline”: “Our partners are in the so-called “global south” they make difficult decisions and refuse Russian weapons,” Reznyk said. She emphasized the serious interest of the United States in increasing the export of American weapons to India. Last year, India concluded an almost two-billion-dollar contract under which General Electric aircraft engines will be produced in this country.
