Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of Hill’s dog and cat food from Italy. The Italian factory was the last platform from which Hill’s feed was allowed to be delivered to Russia.

The agency says it has banned the import of fodder, which is considered premium in Russia, “due to the supply of low-quality products.” The inspection conducted by Rosselkhoznadzor in November 2023 showed the lack of laboratory control of feed components, insufficient temperature treatment of raw materials, as well as the absence of documents about its origin.

The department had previously stopped the supply of fodder of the same brand from the Netherlands and the USA. Then the agency explained the ban by the detection of plant components in feed, which were not declared in the composition, including peas, soybeans and rapeseed.

In addition, in 2021 Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of all fodder from the Czech Republic due to insufficient heat treatment of raw materials, the path of which was not traced to the factories.

Last week it became known that animal feed from Nestle: Purina One, Pro Plan, “Gourmet” and Felix are on sale in Russia. The company warned retailers about an increase in holiday prices up to 12%.
