A court in Moscow arrested one of the top managers of Rosatom

On March 28, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Gennady Sakharov, director of construction project control at the Rosatom state corporation. He is accused of receiving a large personal bribe from the head of one of the company’s key contractors.

The 62-year-old top manager of the state corporation was detained by the FSB on March 27. It is known about Sakharov that he worked in the state corporation since 2010. Until January, he held the position of director of capital investments, Kommersant writes.

A suspect in bribing Sakharov was also arrested in the same case. 77-year-old Elgudzhi Kokosadze. He heads the Orgenergostroy company. The company’s website states that it is “one of Russia’s largest private companies in the nuclear industry” and a permanent contractor of Rosatom and its subsidiaries.

Both defendants face up to 15 years in prison on the charges brought against them. “Rosatom” told “Kommersant” that they will provide assistance to the investigation, the positions of the other parties in the case are unknown.
