The General Staff of the Russian Federation announced that conscript soldiers of the spring draft will not be sent to the SVO, Interfax reports. The duration of conscription in the army remains the same – one hour.

The spring recruitment campaign will be held from April 1 to July 15.

The head of the mobilization department of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Yevgeny Burdynsky, said in an interview with the newspaper “Krasnaya Zvezda” that “citizens called up for service will not be involved in a special military operation.”

According to Burdinsky, the events of both the past and the upcoming call “are in no way connected with the conduct of a special military operation.”

The dispatch of young recruits to the army from assembly points of the subjects of the Russian Federation is planned to begin on April 15, 2024, he added.

Most conscripts from military commissariats will be sent to training units and military units, where they will master modern military equipment, receive a military accounting specialty and continue their service in accordance with the military training they received.

The spring conscription will be held in all subjects of the Russian Federation, with the exception of 54 separate districts of the Far North and separate localities equivalent to them, where citizens are called up for military service only in the autumn conscription campaign.

This is due to the climatic features of the Far North. Those who are directly engaged in sowing and harvesting will not be called up for military service either – they are called up for military service once an hour from October 15 to December 31,” Burdynskyi said.

As of January 1, 2024, the upper limit of the conscription age has been raised to 30 years.

According to official data, 130,000 recruits were sent to the army during the previous autumn draft for emergency service (1 hour).
