The military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ukrainian soldier Pavel Zaporozhets to 12 years in prison under the article on international terrorism. This was reported by TASS from the courtroom.

According to the investigation, the Zaporozhian was preparing a terrorist attack during the procession of the “Immortal Regiment” in occupied Kherson on May 9, 2022. Zaporozhets himself told the court that he planned to blow up the Russian military patrol early in the morning – because of the curfew, civilians would not have suffered.

According to Zaporozhets, he was detained when he was installing a stretcher with two grenades and was taken to the building of the Kherson administration. There he was beaten and questioned. After that, the Zaporozhian was taken to the Kherson prison, where, under the threat of beating, he was forced to sign a protocol, which he was not allowed to read. Zaporozhets was kept in the detention center for three months. There, he was also beaten and asked with electric current. Then he was transported to the annexed Crimea – in handcuffs and with a bag over his head, the Zaporozhets claimed.

The defendant’s lawyer asked to drop the case and recognize the Zaporozhian as a prisoner of war, but the court refused.
