Against Semyon Kochkin, the creator of the Telegram channel “Serdytiai Chuvashia” and the former coordinator of Alexei Navalny’s headquarters in Cheboksary, Semyon Kochkin was opened for the so-called discrediting of the Russian army. He announced this on his channel.
The reason for initiating the case was the publication in December 2022 on the Kochkina channel about Robert Baranov, the head of the main computing center of the Ministry of Defense. It mentioned the latter’s involvement in war crimes.
Previously, Kochkin was fined three times for discrediting the army. The first time was because of the video about the riot of the mobilized people from Chuvashia, and later because of the posts about the dead residents of the republic and the video against the mobilization.
Semyon Kochkin left Russia in the fall of 2021, fearing criminal prosecution. After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he and several other activists founded the Telegram channel “Angry Chuvashia”. There they publish information about dead residents of the region, protest actions, persecution of activists and mobilization.
