The mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, reported on Sunday night that in the Bogorod district, air defense forces “stopped a drone attack on Moscow.” As Sobyanin wrote in a telegram, “there are currently no wreckage and victims as a result of the fall.” The Russian Ministry of Defense also confirmed the destruction of an “aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle.”
The Bogorod city district is located in the Moscow region to the east of Moscow, its center is the city of Noginsk (formerly known as Bogorodsk). Photos and video of the wreckage of the drone appeared in Russian Telegram channels. They allegedly fell on the Gorky highway in the area of the village of Monino and the city of Staraya Kupavna. The highway was closed for some time, and no injuries or damage were reported.
The Russian authorities accuse Ukraine of similar drone attacks, but Kiev does not comment on them. It is not clear why the drone allegedly flew in the direction of Moscow from the east. Ukraine is located southwest of the Russian capital.
In turn, the Ukrainian Air Force claims that 15 out of 20 Shahed-type attack drones launched by the Russian military were shot down over Ukraine on Sunday night. In particular, anti-aircraft defense worked in Kyiv, Poltava and Cherkassy regions. No casualties have been reported.
According to the Kyiv city administration, about 10 air targets were shot down on the approach to the capital of Ukraine. In the Kyiv region, as reported, an infrastructural object was hit, there are no details.
