Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the Dagestani newspaper “Novoye delo”, was searched.
The search in the house in Makhachkala, where the journalist lives with his parents, was reported by lawyer Arsen Magomedov and the website “Caucasian Knot” with reference to Yusupov’s relatives. The police came to him early in the morning, other details are not specified. It is not yet known what criminal case the search is connected with.
Yusupov participated in various protest actions in Makhachkala: he spoke in support of Abdulmumin Hajiev, a journalist of the Chernovyk newspaper who was sentenced to 17 years, and against the persecution of historian Khadzhimurad Donogy.
Earlier, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala dismissed Idris Yusupov’s claim for illegal detention in September of last year at a spontaneous rally against mobilization. Then he was kept in the police department for almost a day without drawing up a report.
In 2017, Yusupov was detained at the Tangyim mosque in Makhachkala during the so-called “preventive measures”.
Over the weekend, anti-Semitic actions took place in the North Caucasus against the background of the conflict in Gaza after the attack by Hamas militants on Israel.
Yesterday, up to one and a half thousand people seized the Makhachkala airport before the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv. Those gathered protested against Israel and demanded the expulsion of Jews from the region. At least 20 people were injured during the riots. 60 rioters were detained.
