In annexed Sevastopol, lawyer Alexei Ladin, who defends Ukrainian political prisoners and captured military personnel, was detained. This is reported by “OVD-Info” with reference to Ladin’s son.
The lawyer was detained in Simferopol, where he came to the court, after which he was taken to Sevastopol for a search. According to the publication “Grata”, Ladin came to Simferopol from Rostov-on-Don, where he defended Melitopol activist Yaroslav Zhuk, accused of terrorism, in the Southern District Military Court.
It is claimed that the police did not show any documents and did not draw up a search report. Relatives of the lawyer were told that he would be sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest.
According to human rights activist Lilia Gemedzha, Ladin can be prosecuted for the article about the “discrediting” of the army because of the post on Facebook.
Ladin participated in many trials of Crimean Tatars, who were accused of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia.
After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he defended the Ukrainian military, who were captured, as well as Ukrainians from the occupied territories, who are charged by the Russian authorities with criminal charges.
