A local resident was detained in Kazan on suspicion of terrorism

[ad_1]

In Kazan, FSB officers detained a local resident who was allegedly planning to set fire to military equipment on the territory of the Kazan Higher Tank Command School. A case was initiated under the article on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization. This is reported by RBC with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.

The publication reports that the detainee set up a cache of kerosene bottles near the school grounds. Detonators, a quadcopter and components for explosives were allegedly found at his home. Telegram channels “Baza” and “Shot” report that the detainee was a supporter of the “Freedom of Russia” legion – an armed formation, which allegedly consists of Russian citizens and is on the side of Ukraine in the war against Russia. It is also confirmed that the suspect was previously tried for incitement to hatred.

In recent months, the FSB regularly reports on the detention of Russians who, according to the special services, were going to fight on the side of Ukraine or committed sabotage at the behest of the Ukrainian special services. Dozens of criminal cases were opened. Some of them have already been sentenced.

Also, the Russian authorities began to consider the arson of military enlistment centers and administrative offices not as damage to property, but as acts of terrorism. Their number also increased with the start of mobilization in September 2022.
