The Federation Council unanimously approved the draft law on banning transgender transition in Russia. It was previously adopted by the State Duma. For the law to enter into force, it remains to be signed by President Vladimir Putin.
According to the draft law, surgical intervention and hormonal therapy in the framework of transgender transition will be prohibited in Russia. They are allowed only for “treatment of congenital physiological anomalies of sex formation in children.”
