A MiG-31 military plane crashed in the Murmansk region on Wednesday. Both pilots managed to eject. According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, there were no casualties.
The plane fell into a lake near the village of Ryzh-Guba. The flight was educational. Eyewitnesses report that the plane caught fire in the air. The ejected pilots were evacuated by rescuers, their lives are not in danger.
The Baza Telegram channel clarified that the pilots ejected after taking the burning plane away from residential buildings.
The MiG-31 model was adopted by the USSR army in 1975. This is the first Soviet combat aircraft of the fourth generation, a supersonic high-altitude all-weather long-range fighter-interceptor. It is intended for the destruction of air targets in the border and internal areas of the enemy country.
