Magomed Gelagaev, a 25-year-old native of Chechnya who fled forced mobilization, was placed by the Swiss authorities in a psychiatric clinic, and after the intervention of human rights activists – in a deportation center. Lachin Mamyshov, a representative of the self-proclaimed Ichkeria in Switzerland, told Kavkaz.Realiya about this website.

“Because of the mobilization, he left Chechnya, came to Switzerland through Eastern Europe and was in a refugee camp. About a month ago, Magomed was placed in a psychiatric hospital – after the start of the war and mobilization, he had panic attacks, general frustration and panic at the sight of people in uniform,” Mamyshov said.

The representative of Ichkeria in Switzerland and the human rights organization “European House of Peace” intervened in the situation, after that Gelagaev was released from the hospital, and two days later he was placed in a deportation center, where another Chechen, Ali Bataev, is also being held.

Human rights activists took control of the situation and, at the request of Gelagaev’s wife, intend to visit him in the near future.

  • 40-year-old Ali Bataev lived in Ukraine and received a residence permit there, but with the beginning of a full-scale war, he was forced to emigrate to Europe. In September 2022, the Swiss authorities detained him, since then he has been in a deportation center. In mid-July, Bataev announced a 30-day hunger strike – at the moment it has lasted for more than 40 days. Human rights activists reported on the visit of the Kadyrov family to the refugee’s relatives in Chechnya.
  • Representatives of the Chechen diaspora held rallies in Berlin and Stockholm against the deportation of Ali Bataev, who applied for international protection, from Switzerland. Bataev is convinced that he will be punished if he returns.
  • In April, the European Court of Human Rights asked the French authorities to delay the extradition to Russia of a native of Chechnya Buvaysar T. His family is accused of double murder, but the lawyer insists on the lack of proof of the client’s involvement in the crime and probable torture in case of extradition to Russian law enforcement officers.
