The State Duma introduced fines and real terms for work in a number of foreign NGOs

The State Duma adopted in the second and immediately in the third reading a bill on fines of up to 100 thousand rubles for participation in the activities of foreign or international non-commercial or non-governmental organizations that do not have legal status in Russia, the chamber’s website reported on Tuesday.

For participation in the activities of such organizations, fines from 3 to 5 thousand rubles are provided for Russians, from 20 to 50 thousand for officials, from 50 to 100 thousand for legal entities. Foreigners will also be able to be expelled from Russia.

At the same time, those who have already received an administrative penalty for a similar violation or have a criminal record for cooperation with a foreign NGO, whose activities are recognized as undesirable in Russia, will face criminal liability of up to two years in prison. For the organization of the activities of such an NGO, they are going to impose a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment, Novaya Gazeta. Evropa reports.
