A new criminal case has been opened against the former Moscow municipal deputy Alexei Horynov, who is serving a seven-year term in a colony for “discrediting the army”, under the article “justification of terrorism”. This was reported by Horinov himself and his support groups on the Internet.
What exactly became the reason for the initiation of a new case is not specified. Horinov himself believes that a new case was needed in case the first sentence of “discrediting” was deemed unconvincing. “It is necessary to come up with something else to make me a hardened criminal, to show my criminal nature, and that I have been deprived of freedom for a reason. I feel more and more like a prisoner of war – in my own – someone occupied country,” he wrote.
Horinov said that he is now in SIZO-1 in Vladimir, in a penal institution. “I was brought here last Thursday, October 5, in connection with the initiation of a new criminal case against me on the justification of terrorism. The article is in high demand now. And this despite the fact that I have been an opponent of all violence and aggression all my life,” – writes the former deputy.
- On July 8, a court in Moscow sentenced Alexei Horynov to seven years in prison on the charge of spreading fakes about the Russian army. He was convicted for speaking at a meeting of the municipal council, which was attended by several people. During the meeting, the deputies, at the suggestion of Alexei Horynov, announced a minute of silence in memory of the victims of aggression in Ukraine. Horinov also noted that all efforts of civil society in Russia should be directed to stopping the war.
- The seven-year term of Alexei Horynov was the most severe sentence of the Russian court at that time under the article on fakes and disinformation about the actions of the Armed Forces of Russia. On December 9, this “record” was broken by the sentence of the opposition politician Ilya Yashin on the same article – eight and a half years in prison for the video he published on social networks about the alleged crimes of the Russian troops in Buche near Kyiv.
