A criminal case for the justification of terrorism has been initiated against Ayhal Ammosov (Ihor Ivanov), an activist and punk musician from Yakutia who emigrated to Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Buryat journalist Yevheniya Baltatarova.
Earlier, Ammosov was detained in Almaty and arrested for 40 days. The arrest is connected precisely with the case of the justification of terrorism. According to this article, extradition from Kazakhstan is possible, the journalist noted.
It is not specified what exactly the activist is charged with as a “justification of terrorism”. According to Baltatarova, the reason for the persecution could be Ammosov’s public speech after his arrival in Kazakhstan.
According to the publication “Cold”, Ammosov has been waiting four months for a humanitarian visa for further emigration to Germany and obtaining a “refugee passport”.
- In April, Ammosov was entered into the register of extremists and terrorists of Rosfinmonitoring. The inclusion in the register is probably related to the second criminal case against the activist, but there are no details about it.
- Aikhal Ammosov (Ihor Ivanov) is an activist of the movement for the independence of Yakutia (Sakha). He opposed Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine. After the protests, he was fined three times under administrative protocols for “discrediting the army” for graffiti, leaflets and a picket, and in August 2022, a criminal case was initiated against him under the same article. After that, Ammosov moved to Kazakhstan.
