A pensioner in Seversk faces the maximum term in the case of “fakes”

The accusation in the city of Seversk, Tomsk region, invited 65-year-old local resident Maryna Novikova to three years in prison in the case of so-called fakes about the Russian army.

Novikova is one of the first accused in the article about fakes. Three years is the maximum term. Recently, the State Duma passed a decision to toughen the punishment and increase the term to five years, but the law is not retroactive.

During one of her speeches in court, Novikova immediately asked to send her to the colony and not even impose a minimum fine of 700 thousand rubles. According to the accused, she has nowhere to borrow money even with installments for five years.

“I am ready to pay for the right to remain a person and a person, because I understand that there will be no acquittal. This is not why everything was planned, and justice is not for me and not for people like me,” Sever.Realii quotes Novikova.

A criminal case against Maryna Novikova was initiated in March of last year simultaneously with a case against another resident of the Tomsk region.

The investigation found Novikova’s posts on social networks, which she published with the words of her friends from the city of Enegodar in the Zaporozhye region, as fakes. Novikova has been under house arrest since April.
