The Khabarovsk regional court found a local resident guilty of treason and sentenced her to eight years in a general regime colony. This was reported by “Moscow Komsomolets” and the Amur Mash telegram channel.
A resident of Khabarovsk was arrested in March 2023. According to the FSB, she allegedly transferred money “for the purchase of weapons, ammunition and uniforms for Ukrainian troops.” The agency claimed that she is an activist of the I/My Furgal movement. Her name is not mentioned.
Interlocutors of Sibir.Realii among Khabarovsk activists reported that they do not know the woman whose arrest video was published by the FSB. According to them, she did not attend protest actions.
The Telegram channel “Stab Furgal”, which covered the criminal case against the former governor in detail, also noted that none of the activists “recognized” the detainee: “There is some suspicion that methodical discrediting of support for Sergei Furgal is ongoing.”
- On July 9, 2020, the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Furgal (“LDPR”), elected in 2018, was detained and taken to Moscow. After that, mass actions in support of Furgal took place in Khabarovsk and other regions of Russia for several months. The participants of the rallies demanded consideration of the case in Khabarovsk, and also called for the resignation of the current regional and federal authorities. On February 10, 2023, Furgal was sentenced to 22 years in a high-security prison in the case of organizing two contract murders of businessmen in 2004-2005 and an attempt on his life.
