A resident of Novosibirsk was accused of soliciting a terrorist attack at the military enlistment office

Police officers detained a resident of Novosibirsk, who is accused of attempting to commit a terrorist attack in one of the city’s military enlistment centers. This is reported by TASS. On December 5, an improvised explosive device was found near the building of the military enlistment office in the multicooker building.

According to “NGS”, Yevgeny Ryapolov, a 27-year-old resident of Berdsk, was detained. He works as a hairdresser, in 2017 he received four years in prison for possession of explosives. It is reported that a container with saltpeter, a bag with hexane and three electrodetonators were found in his apartment. Ryapolov disagreed with the accusation, saying that the explosives were planted by FSB officers. “NGS” clarifies that he was previously a member of one of the right-wing radical movements.

An source close to Ryapolov’s family confirmed his arrest to Sibir.Realii editors. At the same time, one of the relatives refused to comment, because “the way journalists present this topic is beyond the limit.”

A multicooker with homemade explosives was discovered by the military enlistment office during a night search of the premises on December 5. It stood on the windowsill from the side of the street, inside there was a battery-powered timer, wires with a filament at the end, and gray powder. Employees of the emergency services took the IED to a safe place and destroyed it with the help of a manipulator robot.

The military enlistment office of the Oktyabrsky District and the Central Administrative District of Novosibirsk and the recruitment center are located on the first floor of a multi-story building. The office of legal statistics of the prosecutor’s office is also located in the building, the upper floors are occupied by residential apartments.

• After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, military enlistment offices, police departments, state administration buildings and “United Russia” reception centers were set on fire all over Russia, as well as sabotage on railways. After the announcement of mobilization, the number of such attacks increased many times.
• As a result of the fires, no one was killed or injured. Detainees charged with starting arson are most often charged with terrorism charges. More than 30 cases have already ended with a sentence, the most severe of which – 19 years in prison – was given to anti-war activists for setting fire to the building of the city administration of the Chelyabinsk region.
