The court in Rostov-on-Don accused local resident Ihor Bayandin of hacking attacks on the websites of Russian companies caused by his anti-war stance. A resident of Rostov was sentenced to two years in a penal colony and a fine of half a million rubles.
According to the verdict, Bayandin carried out attacks on the websites of companies “relating to the critical information infrastructure of Russia.” In addition to them, he blocked the resources of organizations in the banking, fuel and energy and communication spheres. He did this because he had a “negative attitude” to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Bayandyn admitted his guilt in full.
Earlier, the court in Rostov-on-Don accused another local resident of attacks on the websites of Russian agencies, including the Kremlin.
- In 2022, 667 million records of personal data stolen in Russia from companies and state structures were published. This is almost 2.7 times more than in the previous year.
- Experts directly linked the increase in leaks to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, there have been several large leaks of user data, and government websites have become increasingly subject to DDoS attacks.
