A resident of the Altai Territory was fined for a photo with the inscription “No war”

In Rubtsovsk, Altai Territory, the court fined local resident Maksym Yusov 30,000 in the case under the article on the discrediting of the Russian army. This is reported by “OVD-Info”.

According to the court, Yusov published a photo of the car with the inscription “No war” on “his Telegram page.” We are probably talking about Usov’s personal account in the messenger. The defendant pleaded not guilty, noting that the phrase “No war” does not discredit the Russian army. According to Yusov, he stands for “no war anywhere in the world.”

• The administrative article on the discrediting of the army was adopted eight days after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It provides fines from 30 to 50 thousand rubles for public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces in a “special military operation” (that’s how the Russian authorities call the war in Ukraine). The concept of “public” includes both posts and comments, as well as messages in private chats or conversations with inmates.
• Criminal liability is provided for repeated violations. Russians are persecuted not only for statements against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but also for neutral slogans, for example – “No war”.
• Since the beginning of March last year, Russian courts have received at least 8,055 administrative cases about the so-called discrediting of the army. Mediazona analyzed the data of the courts.
• It is not clear how many people were prosecuted under this article – the police regularly draw up several reports under the same article against the same person. Thus, in the Pushkin District Court of St. Petersburg, “Mediazona” discovered 15 administrative cases of “discredit” against one person, drawn up in one day for 15 different positions.
