A resident of Tolyatta was sentenced to 6 years for defacing banners with military personnel

The Autozavodsky District Court of Togliatti sentenced local resident Alexey Arbuzenko to six years in the general regime colony on several charges, including the so-called discrediting of the Russian army, causing damage to property, and vandalism motivated by hatred. This is reported by OVD-Info. The publication clarifies that the verdict was handed down on May 11, it became known about it only on Saturday.
The verdict is connected with damage to banners related to the war in Ukraine. According to the investigation, in June–July 2022, the accused hooligan instigator “defaced” several banners with images of Russian military personnel with insulting inscriptions. Arbuzenko was arrested at the beginning of August and all this time he was in a pre-trial detention center. The prosecutor asked for eight years in prison for the resident of Tolyatta.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian authorities have been persecuting people who publicly oppose the war and support Ukraine. According to OVD-Info, more than 550 people have been accused of criminal cases related to anti-war protests or the expression of views.
