The police in Aramil, Sverdlovsk Region, searched the home of the art teacher Daria Sergeeva. A criminal case was opened against her under the article on repeated discrediting of the army. This is reported by “OVD-Info”.

During the search, Sergeeva’s laptop and smartphone were seized. She was taken for questioning to the local department of the investigative committee, after which she was released on a bond not to leave.

According to “OVD-Info”, a criminal case was opened against Sergeeva due to Instagram posts and an anti-war action on the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Then Sergeeva brought carnations, a candle, a toy bear to the local monument, as well as frames with portraits of the dead Ukrainians and the inscription “February lasts an hour. So many sins cannot be washed away, there are not enough prayers.”

In the autumn, while voting in the gubernatorial elections, Sergeeva wrote several anti-war inscriptions on the ballot with colored markers. She took a photo of this bulletin, posted it in her Instagram story and dropped it in the bin. The election commission reported the ballot to the police, Sergeeva was identified on video – later she was fined 15,000 rubles under the article on discrediting the army.

  • After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian authorities started persecution for anti-war speeches and statements.
  • At least 597 criminal cases have been opened in Russia for the anti-war stance, including 87 people – under the article about repeated discrediting of the Russian government and army.
