In relation to the founder of the Conflict Intelligence Team, Ruslan Leviev (Karpuk), a second criminal case was opened regarding the so-called fakes about the Russian army. He announced this on his Twitter page.
The reason for this was Leviev’s words during a stream on the YouTube channel “Popular Politics” about the shelling of a children’s hospital in Mariupol by Russian soldiers. In the resolution on the initiation of the case, it is stated that the Ministry of Defense of Russia denies its involvement in this incident. Levyeva is charged with an article about “dissemination of knowingly false information motivated by political hatred.”
Also, another criminal case based on the same article about “fakes” of the army was initiated against journalist and blogger Michael Naka. He reported about it in his social networks, but did not specify what became the reason for a new case against him.
In May 2022, a court in Moscow arrested Ruslan Leviev in absentia in connection with the creation of “fakes” about the Russian army. Michael Nakay is also facing the same case. He was declared wanted. Leviev and Naka are outside Russia.
On March 5, 2022, a few days after the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine, Leviev reported that CIT had closed its office in Moscow and its entire staff had left the country in order to be able to continue working and “fix every course of the war, as in the future it will definitely be useful for the court”.
