Ernest Mitchell, a 56-year-old US citizen awaiting deportation, was found dead in the center of the temporary detention center for foreigners in the village of Novoukrainsky, Gulkevych district, Krasnodar region.

The Kub Mash channel writes that Mitchell was detained on November 17 in Sochi – the reason was that the medical insurance policy he had was not valid in Russia. The Sochi City Court sentenced him to a fine of three thousand rubles and deportation from Russia, according to the case file on the court’s website, although Mitchell explained that the insurance company told him that the policy was valid worldwide. At the same time, RIA Novosti, citing a source, writes that Mitchell allegedly tried to leave for self-proclaimed Abkhazia with “undeclared money.”

The US citizen was sent to the temporary detention center for foreigners in Novoukrainsky before deportation, where his body was later found in the toilet with cuts in the veins and arteries on his arms, legs and neck. This information was confirmed by izdaniyu 93.ru, a source in law enforcement agencies.

Telegram channels Kub Mash, “VChK-OGPU” and “Sapa Yug” call the cause of Mitchell’s death a suicide. This information is not confirmed, and there is also no information about Mitchell himself.
