The founder of the chain of Japanese cuisine restaurants “Tanuka” and the restaurant holding Bulldozer Group, Alexander Orlov, announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia as an international wanted person, said that he is currently in London, where he has opened a new Greek restaurant.

As Orlov told journalists of the Kazakh editorial office of Forbes, the announcement of a wanted man and the investigation of a criminal case in Russia came as a surprise to him. He believes that this is “some misunderstanding” connected with his long absence from Russia.

Orlov was declared an international wanted man at the end of November on the charge of fraudulently causing property damage. He faces up to five years in prison. The reason for the initiation of the case could be the rent debts for the premises of the “Merkury Fitness” fitness center, which belongs to the restaurateur. The injured party, the company “Promtechnokom”, which owns the plazas in Moscow City, filed a claim against Alexander Orlov for 110 million rubles.

Orlov admits that in the past he was one of the investors of this project, but did not influence its operational activities in any way. In addition, according to the businessman, the lawsuit has been pending in civil proceedings for the last two years. There was never any question of criminal responsibility, it was purely a civil law relationship, the businessman told Kazakh journalists.

Alexander Orlov noted that now his lawyers are dealing with this issue. He expressed confidence that in the end the parties will be able to reach a peace agreement.

Orlov also confirmed that by now he has completely withdrawn from all projects in Russia and is developing his business in other countries.

In the early 2000s, Alexander Orlov, in partnership with Andrey Isaev, founded the chain of Japanese restaurants “Tanuki”. In 2022, he began selling Russian assets.
