After the terrorist attack in “Crocus City Hall”, the number of complaints from migrants about harassment increased many times, “Vyorstka” reports with reference to human rights defender Valentina Chupyk.

Chupyk said that since the end of March, she has received more than 8,500 complaints about beatings, illegal detentions and expulsions from the territory of Russia, being held in inhumane conditions in departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and special receptions.

According to the human rights defender’s experience, in “normal mode” she receives only 2-3 appeals a week about illegal deportation or falsification of non-existent migration violators, and now she receives about 150-170 such appeals a day.

Most of the complaints come from citizens of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

  • On March 22, several people armed with assault rifles broke into a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, where a concert by the rock group “Picnik” was scheduled to take place, and opened fire on the gathered spectators. Then they set fire to the hall, which caused a strong fire, as a result of which the roof of the building collapsed. The number of people killed in the terrorist attack, according to the latest data, was 144 people, 551 people were injured, and there are those who are still missing.
  • Four perpetrators and six of their accomplices, most of them citizens of Tajikistan, have been arrested in connection with the terrorist attack, according to investigative authorities. The alleged perpetrators were likely to face torture during detention and interrogation.
