Former Moscow municipal deputy Alexei Horynov, who is serving a seven-year sentence for so-called fakes about the Russian army, was transferred to a prison hospital. Lawyers are not allowed to visit him.
Horinov’s defenders Kateryna Tertukhina and Svetlana Davydova told “Novaya Gazeta” that on Friday they came to Horinov’s colony in Pokrov, where they were informed about his hospitalization in the prison hospital in Vladimir. Davydova and Tertukhina went there, they issued the necessary passes and warrants, but Horynov was never brought to them without explaining the reasons.
“We have two versions of why they didn’t bring Alexei to us. And both are bad. Either he has bodily injuries and we are afraid to show him. Or he is in such a depressing state that they don’t want to show it to us either,” Svetlana Davydova said.
The defenders also added that the last time the lawyer visited Horynov on October 3, he was in a bad condition, could hardly speak and complained of weakness.
- On July 8 of last year, a court in Moscow sentenced the municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky district, Alexei Horynov, to seven years in prison on the charge of spreading fakes about the Russian army. He was convicted for speaking at a meeting of the municipal council, which was attended by several people. During the meeting, the deputies, at the suggestion of Alexei Horynov, announced a minute of silence in memory of the victims of aggression in Ukraine. Horinov also noted that all efforts of civil society in Russia should be directed to stopping the war.
- The 62-year-old Horynov has already been sent to the penitentiary three times in the colony in Pokrov, Vladimir region, for allegedly violating the regime. In particular, he was accused of not doing morning exercise, although he was exempted from it due to medical reasons. Also, in the colony, Horynov was registered as “prone to escape.”
