Three 16-year-old teenagers were arrested in Syktyvkar in connection with an attempted terrorist attack. According to the investigation, they and several other unidentified persons tried to set fire to the building of the transformer substation near the city airport. This is reported on the page of the Syktyvkar City Court in the VKontakte social network.

It is asserted that the defendants admitted their guilt in part – they do not deny that they planned the arson, but they reject the charges under the “terrorist” article. According to the investigation, a curator promised minors money for “certain actions”.

The arson attempt itself took place on the morning of October 4, and it became known about it the next day. It was reported that an unknown person opened the ventilation and lowered a canister with gasoline there on a rope, but he did not have time to set it on fire, as he was noticed.

Later, law enforcement agencies reported the arrest of the suspects.

Governor Vladimir Uyba has already linked the demand for arson with “Nazism” and called for “closer monitoring of youth with destructive behavior.”

  • After the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, reports of arson and damage to transport infrastructure appeared regularly. They are being investigated for acts of sabotage and acts of terrorism.
