Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who is in a special regime colony in Yamal, was connected via video link to a hearing in the Kovrov city court of the Vladimir region. This happened for the first time since the beginning of December, when Navalny was transferred to the Polar Wolf colony, Mediazona reports.

Addressing the court, Navalny said: “Your honor, well, a tear, a tear is flowing down my cheek – I am so glad to see you all. My dear Kovrovsky court, my dear dear defendants, dear defenders and dear secretary – I am very glad to see you.”

After that, at the request of the opposition, the judge announced a five-minute break for Navalny to communicate with his lawyer.

Talking to journalists, Navalny said that no letters have yet reached him and added that the conditions of detention in the “Polar Wolf” colony are better than in IK-6 in Vladimir. “A pebble in your garden, dear defendants,” joked Navalny. The court is considering the opposition’s claim against the administration of the Vladimir colony.

The day before, Navalny was sent to a detention center immediately after he was released from mandatory quarantine, which he served after being sent to a colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

This time, the reason was Navalny’s refusal to introduce himself to the colony employee according to the rules, the politician said in a statement. The oppositionist is sent to SHIZO for the 24th time. He will spend seven days there.

The conditions of detention in the penitentiary are particularly strict. Prisoners cannot receive parcels freely, they walk, they do not receive bed linen.
