Alexey Horinov told the media that he was not allowed to sleep normally in the colony

Former Moscow municipal deputy Aleksey Gorinov, who was sentenced to seven years in prison, reported that he was deprived of normal sleep as a “tend to escape” in colony No. 3 in Vladimir. The politician told about this in a letter to the journalists of RusNews.

According to Horynov, he does not sleep at night because he is checked every two hours by the colony staff. During such checks, jailers make noise and tear the blanket from his head.

“All this is accompanied by a loud opening of the door, a clatter of shoes, a conversation recorded on the video recorder that I am in my sleeping place,” Horinov wrote.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announced its refusal to comply with the request of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention at the UN Council for the immediate release of Horynov, Novaya Gazeta Evropa writes.

• In July 2022, Alexey Gorinov was sentenced to seven years in prison on the charge of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army. The case is related to the politician’s speech at the meeting of the municipal council, during which the deputies, at the suggestion of Horynov, announced a minute of silence in memory of the victims of aggression in Ukraine. Horinov also noted that all efforts of civil society in Russia should be directed to stopping the war.

• In December 2023, the lawyers of Alexei Horynov, who has a severe chronic lung disease, claimed that his health had deteriorated significantly in the colony. Dozens of current and former deputies from the regions of Russia, as well as representatives of the medical community, appealed to the authorities to ensure that Horinov received the necessary treatment.
