The vast majority of Russians refuse to answer the questions of sociologists, if they concern the war in Ukraine, the Russian Field research group claims.

In mid-June, a survey conducted by the group on the topic of war recorded 79.2% of those who refused to participate in it. At the same time, every fourth refused in a rude, often obscene form.

In February, there were slightly fewer “refusals”, but still the overwhelming majority – 76%.

Commenting on these data, research professor at Rutgers University in the USA, Sergey Erofeev, noted that “people are fundamentally afraid, they are not sure who exactly is on the other end of the wire, and that it is safe to tell the truth.”

At the same time, in June, the Russian Field company published the results of a poll, according to which more than a third of Russians, 35 percent, would cancel the decision on the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, made by Vladimir Putin, if they had such an opportunity. The Moscow Times noted that this is a record number for such people.

  • In July, a trial began in Moscow against Yury Kokhovets, a resident of the capital, who was accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army after he participated in a Radio Liberty street poll. During the interview, Kokhovets expressed his opinion about the war in Ukraine, said, in particular, that Russia “bombs shopping centers,” and in Buche, the military “shot civilians without reason.” Now the Muscovite faces up to 10 years in prison.
