An activist and blogger who criticized the authorities was beaten in Ingushetia

In Ingushetia, unknown persons beat and took away in a car, and then dropped off Adam Khamchiev, an opposition blogger and member of the “Grazhdanskaya Initiative” party. He is hospitalized, reports Kavkaz.Realii.
Telegram channel ASTRA reports that the attack took place on March 28 at the “Rio” cafe in Malgobek. According to some reports, this cafe belongs to Khamchiev, according to others, he works there.
According to the telegram channel SAPA KAVKAZ, which published a recording from a video camera in a cafe, five men attacked Khamchiev, beat him, shot him several times in the air, and then put him in a car and drove him to an unknown direction. It is reported that the attackers are wanted.
According to the Mash Gor Telegram channel, the people who beat and took away Khamchiev dropped him out of the car in Karabulak, located approximately 50 km from Malgobek, where he was hospitalized – ASTRA emphasizes that it does not have confirmation of this information. Also, without specifying the source, Mash Gor notes that the motive for the attack may have been personal and not related to the activist’s opposition activities.
There was no information on Khamchiev’s health at the time of publication of the news, the incident was not reported in official sources.

He was found by the police only a few hours later, the activist was charged with illegal possession of weapons. A week later, he gave a confessional statement, saying that he had found a gun.
- Magomed Khazbiev, the Republican leader of the “Grazhdanskaya initiative” party, stated that Khamchiev was under pressure. Khamchiev’s lawyer Movsar Gatagazhev did not confirm this information.
- Khamchiev’s detention was allegedly related to his public activities: “He asked high-ranking officials uncomfortable questions, conducted investigations,” his fellow party member Isropil Nalgiev told Kavkaz.Realii.
- According to “Interfax”, shortly before his detention, Khamchiev was engaged, among other things, in collecting complaints about the work of the perinatal center in Nazran.
