In Moscow, DPS officers stopped a car driven by Isa Geremeev, the nephew of a member of the Federation Council from Chechnya, Suleiman Geremeev. When the car was inspected, seven pistols, four submachine guns and more than seven hundred rounds of ammunition were found in it, Novaya Gazeta Evropa reports, noting that Isa Geremeev was not detained.
The Telegram channel of the Cheka-OGPU, presumably connected with Russian law enforcement agencies, claims that Geremeev was not detained after “a call from influential relatives.”
The state news agency TASS, with reference to sources in the police, reports another version: allegedly, the weapon found in the Mercedes-Benz car “was registered in accordance with the law.” According to the Cheka-OGPU and the publication RBC, Geremeev still did not have any authorization documents for transporting the arsenal.
In turn, the assistant of State Duma deputy Adam Delymkhanov, who is the closest ally of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, said that Isa Geremeev “was involved in a minor traffic accident, DPS officers immediately arrived and provided assistance, showed attention and vigilance.”
- 27-year-old Isa Geremeyeve was almost not reported by mass media until today. His uncle, Suleiman Geremeev, is a member of Ramzan Kadyrov’s inner circle. He is also the cousin of State Duma deputy Delimkhanov, whom Kadyrov called his possible successor as the head of Chechnya. “Novaya Gazeta” published an investigation about the possible involvement of Geremeev in a number of high-profile criminals. In 2009, the future senator was interrogated as a witness in the case of the murder of the hero of Russia Ruslan Yamadayev, who had a conflict with Ramzan Kadyrov.
- One of Suleiman Geremeev’s nephews, Ruslan Geremeev, is a former company commander of the Chechen battalion “North”. In 2015, he was declared wanted on suspicion of organizing the murder of Boris Nemtsov. Sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment as the perpetrator of the murder, Zaur Dadaev was his immediate subordinate. However, the investigation has still not been able to find Ruslan Geremeev and will interrogate him. Allegedly, “no one opened the door” to the SC employee who came to his house, and therefore he was forced to leave. Nemtsov’s relatives and colleagues claim that the Russian authorities are reluctant to investigate Geremeev because of his closeness to the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov.
