An eight-meter monument to Stalin was opened in Velikie Luka

In the city of Velikie Luky, Pskov Region, in front of the central entrance to the territory of the Mikron plant, an eight-meter monument to Joseph Stalin, one of the leaders of the Soviet Union, was erected.

As the regional mass media reports, representatives of the cultural heritage fund “Russian Vityaz” opened a monument to the work of sculptor Mikhail Krasilnikov with the assistance of local authorities. Vladimir Parshikov, the deputy general director of the fund, said that on this issue “like-minded people were found among the management of the Mikron plant and among the workers.” “People expressed their desire every day, coming to work, to see a monument to Joseph Stalin,” he summarized.

The publication RBC notes that the “Mikron” plant manufactures and supplies, in particular, cargo and shelf racks for trade, stores and warehouses.

• During the years of Stalin’s rule, millions of people became victims of mass repressions in the USSR. After his death, many repressed people were rehabilitated, and objects associated with Stalin, including cities, were renamed. Monuments to Stalin were also demolished.
• In recent years, monuments to the Soviet leader have been erected again in a number of Russian cities. As a rule, they are installed on private territory, for example, in the courtyards of regional committees of the CPRF. There are, however, monuments in public places, as in Volgograd.
