The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia announced a search for lawyer Alexander Fedulov, who defended opposition politician Alexei Navalny in court. This was reported by the publication “Novaya gazeta Evropa”, whose editors drew attention to the department’s database.

In Fedulov’s card, it is indicated that he is wanted under an article of the Criminal Code, but it is not written under which article. Previously, it was not known that a criminal case had been initiated against him. Fedulov left Russia in October 2023, after the lawyers who defended Navalny, Vadym Kobzev, Alexey Liptser and Igor Sergunin, were arrested in the case of an extremist community.

Earlier on Friday, it became known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Navalny’s second lawyer, Olga Mykhaylova, was wanted. She is not in Russia. “I have been accused of participating in Navalny’s extremist community,” Mykhailova said in a comment to Interfax.

  • Alexey Navalny was convicted in a case of fraud, as well as a number of other charges, including the creation of an extremist community, which Russia recognized, in particular, as the “Fighting Corruption Foundation”. Navalny is serving a 19-year sentence in a penal colony. The oppositionist calls his persecution political, the same opinion is held by human rights defenders and representatives of Western countries.
