Another protocol on the discrediting of the Russian armed forces was drawn up for “Novaya Gazeta”. This was reported by the telegram channel “Ostrozhno, novosti” with reference to the case file in the Tagansky Court of Moscow.
Press secretary of the publication Nadezhda Prusenkova clarified that the protocol was drawn up in December 2022. The reason for it was an interview of journalist Tatiana Brytskaya with archpriest Andrey Kordochkin – a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church who opposes the war in Ukraine.
In September 2022, a court in Moscow fined Novaya Gazeta 400,000 rubles for an article about the discrediting of the Russian newspaper. Then the reason for this was the articles of Alexander Mynkin, Andrey Kolesnikov and Kirill Fokin, in which, as the publication claims, the armed forces of Russia were not mentioned at all. In July and August of the same year, “Novaya Gazeta” was fined for the article about “dissemination of knowingly false publicly significant information”. The total amount of fines was 650 thousand rubles.
- “Novaya Gazeta” suspended publication on March 28, shortly after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, due to the impossibility of objectively covering the events in Ukraine under conditions of military censorship. In early September, the court canceled her publishing license.
- After the suspension of publication of “Novaya gazeta” in Russia, part of the editorial team moved abroad and started publication of “Novaya gazeta. Europe”.
