Argentina began revoking residence permits of Russians who left the country

[ad_1]

The Migration Service of Argentina has begun revoking residence permits from Russians who received them after the birth of a child in the country, but then decided to leave. This was reported by the national director of the country’s migration service, Florencia Carignano, on the air of the C5N channel.

She explained that when the issue of granting Argentine citizenship to a Russian will be considered in court, the migration service will submit data on the suspension of the residence permit due to the fact that this person “spent a month in Argentina and never came again.”

“If the court, despite these data, wants to grant citizenship to a person who does not live and has not lived in Argentina, it is his business. We cancel the residence permit,” said Carignano.

On Friday, it became known that at the airport of Buenos Aires, employees of the migration service did not let several pregnant Russian women into the country. They were refused entry to the country due to “false tourism”. The authorities believe that their real goals for their stay in Argentina do not correspond to the stated ones. However, according to the court’s decision, they were still allowed to pass.

According to the laws of Argentina, a child born on the territory of this country receives citizenship “by right of origin”. His parents can get the right to permanent residence and later also get citizenship. Representatives of the Russian Embassy in Argentina reported that in 2022, about 2,500 Russians moved to the country. Among them were many pregnant women who came there to give birth to a child.
