Arrested “Putin’s yacht” launched in Italy

In Italy, the previously arrested superyacht “Scheherazade”, which, according to the investigation of Alexei Navalny’s team, belongs to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, was launched. According to the correspondent of Radio Svoboda, who studied satellite images, this happened between September 11 and 12.
According to Maria Pevchy, head of the International Anti-Corruption Foundation, after the yacht was “frozen” due to the investigation, someone repaired it and paid, in Pevchy’s words, “millions of euros” for it.
The Russian crew of the ship, members of which, according to the investigation, are connected to the Federal Security Service, was not fired and still receives a salary, notes Pevchykh (the owners of the objects that have been sanctioned usually continue to maintain them – the Russian Federation). She suggests that the yacht, which has been in the port of Marina di Carrara in the Tuscany region since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, is being prepared to go to sea.
“If the Italian government, for some reason, allows Scheherazade to escape, it will be the greatest shame and the most significant blow to the EU’s sanctions policy. You cannot return Putin’s yacht, this is simply madness,” said the head, addressing the Italian authorities international FBK.

Investigators estimated its value at 700 million euros. Later, the “Dossier” publication conducted its own investigation and announced the second amount spent on the construction of the ship – 583 million euros.
