Kutcher’s new fund plans to invest $243 million in startups with artificial intelligence, which are currently the most popular category in the technology industry. The portfolio already includes investments in such popular AI startups as OpenAI, Stability AI Ltd. and Anthropic.
“We raised the fund in about five weeks,” Kutcher said Thursday in an interview with Bloomberg Television.
According to the company’s statement, with the new fund, assets managed by Sound Ventures LLC from Los Angeles amount to about $1 billion.
Ashton Kutcher said that the firm surveyed its portfolio companies to find out how they are using AI, and that this sector will mark “the next absolute transformation of technology.”

“We’ve been investing in AI for the past seven years, but when we saw GPT launch, we knew it was an absolute breakthrough,” Kutcher said.
He recognized the so-called hype cycle, which extends to investments in technology. Kutcher cited the recent boom in cryptocurrency, an area in which Sound Ventures is also active.
According to him, blockchain technology, which is the basis of cryptocurrency, has value in a number of applications, while “tokenization” has gone too far in many areas.
