The terms of delivery of auto parts for cars of foreign brands, which left the Russian market after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, increased to one and a half years due to sanctions. “Izvestia” writes about this.

Parts are transported through third countries, but delivery times are delayed due to delays at customs and obstacles in shipping on the part of automakers without explaining the reasons, said the large insurance companies interviewed by the publication.

As the interlocutors of “Izvestia” told, it is most difficult to order parts for Japanese cars of the brands “Infiniti” and “Lexus” and for European cars – “Skoda” and “Mercedes”.

For example, according to the information of the Absolut Strahovanie company, the AdBlue reagent tanks for the Mercedes had to wait a year and a half from May 2022, the wheel disc one hour and four months, and the original glass ordered for the Porsche Cayenne seven months ago, until came

Spare parts for Infiniti cars are not delivered at all because of sanctions. Parts of Japanese cars “Toyota”, “Mitsubishi”, “Honda”, as well as Korean “Kia” and “Hyundai” have to wait six months on average.

The MAKS company, in turn, indicated the presence of problems with official deliveries for the European brands Renault and Opel.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, almost all European, American and Korean brands stopped supplying cars to Russia. In response to this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade allowed “parallel import”, that is, import into the country without the permission of the right holder.

The use of parallel import channels leads to lengthening of logistics chains and results in an increase in delivery time. Spare parts are transported via complex routes through international hubs — Turkey or the UAE, as well as transit through the Baltic states, Belarus, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. Cargoes are often delayed at customs, Izvestia writes.

Russian legislation requires OSAGO to settle an insurance case in a month. According to Ihor Ivanov, vice-president of RESO-Garantia, due to the current situation, the insurer most often has to pay compensation in money or use used spare parts. However, such a method of solving the problem is possible only with the consent of the client.

In addition, the authorities are afraid that the growth in demand for car parts may lead to an increase in the number of car theft cases.
