Bogolyubov refused to testify in his defense in the Privatbank case in London

Gennadiy Bogolyubov refused to testify in his defense in the court hearing on the merits of PrivatBank’s lawsuit against its former owners.

During the two-day procedural hearing, which took place on March 29 and 30, the judge allowed individual witnesses in the case, in particular – bank bailiff Ihor Kolomoiskyi, to testify from Ukraine via video link.

Other witnesses, including most of the witnesses who will testify on behalf of PrivatBank, will participate in the proceedings in person in London.

Bogolyubov, as stated in Privatbank, did not apply for permission to testify online.

At the beginning of the procedural hearing, it became clear that he would not testify at all during the hearing of the case on the merits. The reasons for such a decision were not announced. Bogolyubov also did not call any other witnesses to support his line of defense.

“This can only mean that he does not have a decent answer to the allegations of fraud made against him,” Privatbank said.

It is noted that Bogolyubov’s decision was confirmed by his lawyer on March 29. The hearing of the said case is scheduled to begin in June 2023.

In addition, at the same hearing, the judge ordered Kolomoiskyi to pay 600,000 pounds to the court. This happened after the judge finally allowed the ex-owner of the bank to make the final changes to Kolomoiskyi’s response to PrivatBank’s lawsuit.

The judge agreed that Kolomoisky “was ready to disregard court decisions and not conduct the court process in a quick and reasonable manner”, and decided that the payment of 600,000 pounds to the court account would cover PrivatBank’s costs for processing such changes.
